The Rooster

This is the DPW challenge this week. Chicken! I decided to do a rooster rather than copy the chicken. Another challenge...Color choices, trying to do color changes with each stroke. He is a cocky challenge!

Tears of the Dragon

This was last week's Daily Paintworks Challenge. One color per stroke. Very exciting to do. 8x8 Oil. I am enjoying these challenges. It is getting me out of the box. The plan is to mix paint up ahead and that works pretty well. My problem is getting them photographed and uploaded correctly.

One color per stroke Challenge

This is how I want to paint. Very difficult to not just move that paint around and keep stroking!! It takes a lot of planning and mixing color ahead of time. Lots of paint!
I do love these challenges. Just think how my painting will go if Spring ever comes.

Rose Challenge

This is this weeks Daily Paintworks Challenge. I just happened to have one red rose from a Valentine dinner. I kept it in the refrigerator in water until ready to paint. It began to shrivel from the heat from the light. I have not done many flowers and it was certainly a challenge. These challenges get me to paint and not put it off as there is a deadline. I am really going to attempt to keep this blog going regularly.

Challenge of the 10 minute Apples

This was really a challenge. 3x3 squares. Set a timer for 10 minutes. You quickly find out what you are not seeing! I realized I was more worried about color choices than the drawing, or the image. By the fourth one I was more focused on shape. I realized it saved time by having paint mixed ahead of time. I also realized I was using my paint too thinly. Learned a lot and will try it again. I did enter it in the Daily Paintworks Challenge.
