New York Central Park watercolor and pastel

NY Central Park 12x16 watercolor/pastel

This was done on Saturday March 8. I have used pastel on watercolor before but not in this fashion and I love the effects. This is large for me but I do think I will frame it.I may work on it some more as the lines do not look straight but it may be the photo and not the painting. I do think I would like to attempt it in oils, also.
I am so looking forward to nicer weather so I can get out into the light and photo better.
Morning Glow 9x12 watercolor

This painting sold this week and I also have two pet portrait commissions, so will be working on those.

Last evening we had another Spirited Painting Party. We had some no shows but went ahead with the three who showed up. We had a great time and hope to have many more of these at Henne's Drafting and Art Supply. 419-522-4401. We have done these for private parties in their homes or larger facilities. I will be working on some new paintings to do for this.

Twin Buttes Wyoming #2

This is the second painting of the Twin Buttes that I am doing for a commission. A little warmer than the first. Tried to make them a little different. Different skies, different warmth, slightly different tree.

Twin Buttes Wyoming

This is one of two paintings for my son, who will pick one for himself and one for his friend in Wyoming where they went hunting. They had a good time but the snow got too deep and the Elk must have been hunkered down, but they came home with good memories and great photos. I may add a little snow to the branches and trees but will wait for his response about it.

Winter Lake

Decided to send in my homework early to be able to get some criticism! I had used the modeling paste and painted without the Gesso. Definitely needs Gesso. I am learning a lot, to not use the photo as photographed but to do the value sketch and stick by it. To change the shapes to abstract, make more interesting shapes and lines. I wanted this to be a moody painting and I feel I accomplished that. So much to think about, hard edges, soft edges, where to put them. I am sure Johannes will find many things to work on.

Hearts in the Snow

I completed the painting of the hearts made in the snow by the UPS driver for my grandaughter. She requested it. I am pretty happy with it considering the photo was in gray tones from a phone.I feel the composition works. Your eye seems to go to the wood pile first then to the tracks in the snow and then to the objects to the right. The road helps the swing of the eye and the trees give stability. I feel there was depth to the woods and the Naples yellow in the snow area lends warms to the painting along with the brush and leaves on the trees in the background.
