This week's Challenge was to do a Zippo lighter in just Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, and White. I mixed a number of the colors up before starting to paint. The problem came when I tried to photo as there was so much reflection as I am trying to use more paint. I really enjoy these challenges. Great learning experiences. Looking forward to the next subject. Had to spend some time on errands this week as we are to get another big snow!

This is a fantastic play about George Seurat. Put on at Ashland University. Ashland, OH. Every artist would appreciate this play and it is one for another weekend. www.ashland.edu.
I am throughly enjoying the Johannes Vloothuis Webinar from www.Wetcanvas.com.It is free, there are class notes you can download and print and Robert Sloan's notes. I am learning a lot and this information will be helpful for my classes in Mansfield.

This is this weeks Daily Paintworks Challenge. I just happened to have one red rose from a Valentine dinner. I kept it in the refrigerator in water until ready to paint. It began to shrivel from the heat from the light. I have not done many flowers and it was certainly a challenge. These challenges get me to paint and not put it off as there is a deadline. I am really going to attempt to keep this blog going regularly.
This was really a challenge. 3x3 squares. Set a timer for 10 minutes. You quickly find out what you are not seeing! I realized I was more worried about color choices than the drawing, or the image. By the fourth one I was more focused on shape. I realized it saved time by having paint mixed ahead of time. I also realized I was using my paint too thinly. Learned a lot and will try it again. I did enter it in the Daily Paintworks Challenge.
